Dyson Vacuum Parts Frequently Asked Questions
Best way to clean the Dyson DC17 cyclone component?
Once I empty the clear bin of the debris, I'm left with the cyclone component with all kinds of dirt and dust clinging to it. Can this part be cleaned with water? Are there any electrical components inside the cyclone that would be damaged by water? Are there any filters inside that would need to dry before using again? It just seems to me if all the little holes on this component are plugged up, the machine can't operate as efficiently. Emptying the canister on this vacuum is a nasty mess if you ask me, lol. I can't imagine why I switched from one that uses a bag. Oh well....live and learn as my parents used to say. Now I just need to learn how to clean the cyclone part of this monster machine. Any help would be most appreciated.
Hi, it’s Ryan at Dyson. The best method for clearing a Dyson Cyclone Assembly of debris is to use a dry cloth to wipe it down. We do not recommend the use of any form of liquid when cleaning this part of the machine.
If you are unsure of how to perform the maintenance detailed above or if you require any other assistance, please contact the Dyson Helpline at 1-866-MY-DYSON.
Best wishes,
Ryan

Am I the only person still running a Dyson DC01 Vacuum cleaner?
I've just checked how old the thing is and it's 11 years old. I keep buying the replaceable parts, and the motor is still happy. I just wonder how long I still be able to replace the parts, and do the new ones, built outside the UK, have the same longevity? It'll be a collectors item before long.
Yeah i just buy the bits off ebay and amazon, whoever is cheapest this week. I don't see any point in buying a new machine while I can still fix it.
I've got a DC01, its well over 12 years old and all i've had to do is replace the soleplate/brush bar and the belt, it still works like a dream!! Ebay has spare parts for it if needed. I'm amazed its lasted so long with dogs, cats, birds and kids to vac up after, its been a trooper!!!
